The Competition Series sits above the Navigator line, and the differences are mostly in capacity and control. Cooking surface is 8,487 square centimetres, about 1,315 square inches or roughly 56 burgers, across three porcelain-coated racks: cast iron on the lower level, steel above.

It runs a Wi-Fi controller with an LCD screen, so meat doneness and fuel level can be monitored from the Pit Boss app rather than at the grill. Temperature covers 82 to 260 degrees Celsius, and the Flame Broiler lever opens the plate for direct searing at up to 537 degrees. The hopper holds 11.8 kg of pellets, has a view window and an easy-access clean-out. A removable undermount burn pot makes maintenance simpler than on sealed designs. Two meat probes are included.
